OK when a car is coming towards me with a pretty good system I can hear and feel the bass alot but once the car passes me I can only hear rattles, why is that? To give an example last week a Cutlass pulled up behind me at a light and his bass rocked my whole car but when I let him go around me so that I was behind him I didn't hear anything but the trunk or feel anything.

Because the bass bounced from the trunk lid to front of the car?

Go read up on a physics term called "Doppler Effect".

Same reason that a siren has a different pitch depending on if the car is coming towards you or heading away from you, or that a race car's engine sounds different depending on if it is heading towards you or away from you.
