Can someone clear up some active setup questions for me?

I've been reading numerous searched threads and can't seem to understand some things with active setups.

Setup:

Hu: Pioneer 7800mp

Amp: Kicker KX650.4 + MB Quart PAB-1200.1D

Speakers: PG RSD 6.5 components

Subs: 2 12'' IDQ v2

I want to run my setup ACTIVE, but from what I have read with the 7800MP I cannot. I want to keep my 7800mp since it is present from my chick.

Question#1: Can I run an active setup by buying an electronic 3way processor such as this one ?Memphis 16-X03 3 way Electronic Processor

If this is not what I need, Can someone give me some insghts on what else may be required?

you can use any exteral crossover or processor that lets you bandpass you midrange...for this purpose digital would be preferable as it will be easier to accurately set your crossover points
When you say digital im thinking you mean upgrade an HU such as a 9887 or 880prs?

when i say digital im referring to a digital crossover or processor such as an audiocontrol dqx or pha-h701 combo
Worlddre I appreciate the help! but those units can be a little pricey.

Would the Memphis electronic crossover but ideal for a budget processor?

I'm kind of wondering the same questions that vinny is. Sometimes I see 3 way electronic crossovers and they only have 2 outputs with LPF's and then 1 with a HPF. Most of the time you can't even tell what crossover settings are available.

To run active you would need one output with a LPF and HPF (mids) and another output with just a HPF (tweeters), correct? Well, what's models out there are capable of that? Having a hard time finding them.

if you want to keep your current HU, you'll need an external crossover. my last HU was the 7800 and i liked it a lot, very nice unit. the rsd's can sound great run active.

Can anyone with some PG RSD recommend what frequencies to run my comps at?

Im going to be running them on my Kicker KX650.4 which is 125x4

specs of the memphis 16 xo3 I just bought.

i currently have my mids from 80hz/12db up to 2.5k/24db. the tweeters are at 4k/24db. in my car thats what sounds best so far.

Time alignment will almost not be worth doing. There were good sounding systems before TA though.
Can you explain? Your saying if he uses an external active crossover then having/using time alignment will be not as effective? I am confused. You mean if he doesn't have enough outputs or something?
