Can someone clear this up for me? 2nd Battery question!!

A couple people have said that if you add a 2nd battery that it needs to MATCH the main battery/starter battery. However, some people say that it does not matter. Which is right?

The main thing is that the resting voltage of both is relatively close. The stronger battery will try to charge the weaker one when your vehicle is off.

this is true but you must also use the same type of battery ie .. agm ,wet cell

The battery I want to use is a deep cycle battery. Its a Stinger SP800

Its a hit or miss thing, some people have issues using mixed batteries, others dont. It looks prettier to have all matching batteries though lol

i had mine mixed time and time again, and never had a problem with mixed batts. i mean now i dont because i dont have a battery under the hood at all. i have my truck ran off the rear batt bank until i get a good battery to go under the hood because my other one took a sh1t.

its not recommended to mix , reason is the wet cell batts tend to be at lower voltages and bring other batts down
