I think your expectations with SPL/SQ are a bit low if you're considering those subs. The Mag, Q, and BM's all offer a better mix than a 60/40 split. If you're going after a single driver with 1500 watts, I'd discount the BM because of a few factors: 1) You can't buy any of them new because we're sold out. 2) Power handling is 600 watts, not 1500. You'll cook a single BM trying to shove 1500 watts at it daily.

I cant remember the guys user name, but he swapped out his 2 hd312's for a single 15" si mag in his cavalier and said he'd never go back.

True, a 1500D does every bit of 1600+ watts with a healthy electrical system, which is still 300 watts over a BM's rated power handling. But keeping the 1500D turned down to 1200'ish watts or so will be just fine. There are two guys locally running two BM 12's off a 1500D without any problems.
