Bye Bye GM....Thanx Liberals....

No they have not. No car is perfect. If there was we would only have one car running around. I think Honda is much better then it has been but not perfect. Personaly I would take a Civic over a Cavalier, but If I had to buy it brand new for the same price I'd take the cavalier if it was for driving only. The aftermarket work with Honda's has help them alot too.

Not true. Look at the Volt. And there was also GM's electric cars before any jap companies made any.
Oh? and when is the volt coming to the market? Innovation is nothing if it doesnt generate sales. I see advertisments for that thing from time to time, but obviously its still not even close to being viable, since it isnt even set to be put on the market

WV is in far better shape, we can convert coal to liquid and have gas, plus we are one of VERY few states operating under a surplus.

Louisiana may be energy independant, but all it takes is 1 gulf hurricane and your done for.
we can have 5 hurricane's and still support our state, our states total population is under 4 million. we export 80% of our oil to other states. we export rice, corn, natural gas, salt, spring water, soy, etc... we import next to no natural resources, plus New Oleans is one of the largest ports in the country.

At the Chicago Auto Show they said to see it ready by 2011 but I would have to double check to make sure. Still an electric car does nothing for our polution and energy consumption as we still use energy to charge it just not from a tailpipe.

it took 1 and new orleans was under water and every one of your rigs shut down, so no you cant withstand 5. NO is a hole, and should not be populated, im sure your gonna get pissed at me, but its the truth, I dont know about the rest of the state but NO and the rest of the coast has no business getting my money to rebuild in a flood plain.

now back to gm

And you sir is wrong again. You might want to do a little bit more research before making such assumption.

Yes domestics have came up with the ideas of an electric engine but none has been mass produced.

You wanna guess who mass produce the first electric car?

I'm getting in on this thread late but my view of this is..

Bankruptcy could help GM get back on it's feet again.

It could be a good thing. It will give them the ability to restructure areas they normally couldn't without filing for bankruptcy..

I will be VERY suprised to see it on the market by 2011, and there are numerous foreign cars that are already full electric, I even saw a sports model on the travel channel that can go over 100mph. So GM did nothing new or innovative, and if they did they couldnt perfect it in time, and missed the curve.

Good, although i dont like people welching on debt, it the UAW contract was unfair. Management should have known better and they should have to pay the price, but if they dont get out of the UAW bs, they WILL fail, and UAW willget NOTHING. I would much rather have a job at $10 /hr for forever, than $20/hr for the next 6 months til GM goes belly up.

This

They should have done this before we gave them any money. Declare bankruptcy, offload some debt, offload some UAW crap, and get a solid bottom line they can handle. Cleanest way for them to continue on, with government help in the restructuring they will be far better off than they were.

Dirty fukn greed, bite the hand that feeds you and expect to keep getting fed...hopefully they learn a lesson that they have to help the company compete if they are going to stay employed.

Wrong again? I feel That I have not been wrong, just stated an opinion different then yours. That does not make me wrong, and if you think that it does your pretty close minded. I have admitted the Honda and other imports trounce GM now but they could not have done so without there foundation. This is also strictly from a car stand point.

But instead of calling me out, care to inform me of the electric car prior to the GM EV1? The cars was road tested and destroyed.

I see new employees and ex employees getting screwed tho...
all these companies that are asking for money need to just fail like they are on their way to. money doesn't solve problems just ask biggie and diddy. all this "bailout" crap needs to stop. companies fail all the time just, if you can't get another job, learn something new. it's called survival of the fittest.
