BX1000D GAin

I have a Hifonics BX1000D amp and I can only hear my subs when i set the gain to volts that my alpine cda-9825 HU sends out which is 4volts. I cannot literally hear the subs when its set to .2-3v and 5-9v. As I slowly turn the gain (starting from .2v) i hear nothing, but as soon i get around 4v my subs hit, then as I go past 4v and into the higher voltage my subs get quite again. Do hifonics model amps do this or am I doin something really wrong?

Let me get this straight, are the gains set to how they look or are they acually .2 where the 9v is and 9v where the .2v is.

As you approach the smaller number being .2 it gets or should get louder....or more sensitive. As you turn it towards 9volts the power should decrease. In other words clockwise will make it hit harder per given headunit volume. It goes from 9v to .2v with .2 being the most sensitive.
