Buying a New Sub

Im pretty new to all of this...my dad is a MTX fan I think mainly because he hasnt heard other subs and he just hears good things about MTX and dont get me wrong the sub I have right now sounds great but Im looking to add a new sub and amp to my car....I was thinking of doing a dual sealed box using 2 TA7801 MTX amps putting out around 1000 watts each at 2ohm but what I was trying to decide on was what subwoofer I should get...

I was thinking about adding another MTX 9512-44 because they kick really hard and play loud but Ive also heard good things about the TS-W3004 from pioneer and really good things about the JL W7 12" and I was just kind of wondering how they compare to the MTX 9500s

any help will be appriciated, I just dont want to spend a months worth of paychecks without checking out every option and the ups and downs of everything

if it helps right now Im running a mtx 9500 12" DVC at 2ohm with a 7801 in a 1.75cu ported box and Im just wondering how much different the other 2 subs are in comparison or advice on another sub, right now I love the hard hitting raw power of the 9500 tho

this is kinda embarassing lol but I dont really know what its tuned to, I used the box reccomendations from MTX on their site and my box is either 1.75 or 2.00cu for some reason I thought it was 1.75 but the pdf is showing 2, so maybe Ive been looking at too many numbers lately but Im a bass adict now since I got this sub like 3 months ago or so and I cant get enough of it...the only downside is that I bought a DVC so now I have to buy another amp too because I heard its really not good on your amp to run 1ohm

depends completely on the amp. There are some amps that can do .35ohm all day long. and some amps that cant go below 4ohms. With that woofer your only options would be 8ohms or 2ohms. You could get another 9500 DVC 4 and sell that amp and get an orion 2500D

sell the amp and buy 1 mono amp and wire both to 1ohm or buy another sub and amp and wire each amp to 2 ohms (1 amp per sub).
the amp I have right now is a MTX TA7801 mono amp it was tested at 1500 watts at 1ohm but I heard its really easy to fry your amps at 1ohm so I was just gonna spend another 400$ and buy a new amp and just use 2 amps with 2 subs both at 2ohms

EDIT::

I just wasnt sure about the different kinds of subs and which ones hit harder, I hear mixed things that the 9500 is better than the W7 and some people say the opposite and another thing that was kind of making me want to pair it with a different sub is because the 9500 can only do like 31hertz lowest right?....Im not really sure about all of this yet but Im trying to learn about it all I just dont want to make a costly mistake in the process

if it was rated to be stable at 1 ohm, then there's nothing wrong with wiring it like that. if they give ratings at 1 ohm then you can do that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif it's dropping the load below 1 ohm that could overwork your amp and cause it to breakdown. just try it, keep an eye on it, and make sure it doesn't get too warm.

alright thx for your help, it does make sense that I could run it at 1ohm if they send a test certificate with it showing the different power outputs at 4ohm 2ohm and 1ohm

I altho Im not really sure what difference u get running something at 1ohm or 4ohm, any kind of sound quality loss or gain?

EDIT::

I guess it also wouldnt hurt to get another 9500 build a dual box for it run it for a couple months on one amp and maybe later spend the money and buy another amp and just run them both at 2ohms later

hey dkguitarist you use a JL W7 right? the 13" in your sig could you offer me advice in to how it sounds compared to the 9500? if its any better or worse...I dont know if you have heard the 9500 but you seem to know alot about amps and subs

actually i have not heard the 9500 but i hear they are pretty good. as for the dub7, i've only heard it once off maybe 600W (not sure, just kno it was a kicker amp). it wasn't too loud but the sq was pretty good. it was drowning out my friend's speakers.

and i'm still relatively noob to car audio, but i know enough to help out people on some occasions.

I hate it that I have to run my sub in my trunk but Im a car person and I dont know if subs can ever change that unless I decide to go crazy into debt and buy 4 9500s right now the only reason why Im able to get another 9500 is because Im a senior in HS working a full time job and only doing 3 hours of school and still living with my parents so I dont have any rent or anything atm so I was kind of trying to maybe live a bit before Im gonna be broke living on my own or sharing rent with friends //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

4ohm = less distortion

1ohm = more distortion... but you cant tell because its such a low freq.

x2. i'm still mooching off the rents for now so i'm buying up while i can tho my car insurance is killing me. **** accidents. but if you have the money, i'd say get the other sub, build a dual box for them (sealed is easier, smaller and has better response) or ported (better output, bigger, and not as easy). you're choice. but wire them to 1 ohm, set the gains using a dmm to recommended rms, and bump away.
