Building the BEST system

actually what i would do is get the usx 4085 and get a pair of the classic series cdt's at thezeb.com for $150. there would be no need really for the hd when you would only put half there rms power to them. i run the usx 4065 which is less power on a pair of cl-51 and they are plenty loud with good sq so i don't think you need to spend the money for the hd line when the classics will be just as good. and by the way to get the 3 year warranty you need to buy from an authorized dealer. i paid a little more and spent $129 for my usx 4065 and got it from crutchfield.com, but what i should've done was had sounddomain price match but oh well.
You make a good point .

My first thoght a day ago when ngsm13 sugjested the system layout was to keep the CDT HD-62 components in the front and power them with a Audiobahn A2601T 2 channel amp (150X2).

Then for the rear keep the CL-6X and power them with a Audiobahn A2301T (75X2).

Is that crazy? Being a new guy to stereo installs I am mathing watts, ohms, channels, and figuring out what the hell SQ, SQL, dB, etc. means from other post the best I can.

I appreciate all the advice I am getting from everyone.

first off stay away from audiobahn. you would be better of with a 4-channel because it would be a lot easier than wiring two 2 channel amps plus a sub amp. sq= sound quality, spl= sound pressure level and db= decibl which is a way of measure loudness or think of it as degree like 30 degrees 40 and so on so the higher db's the louder. and and also you save a lot of money by buying one 4 channel amp as compared to two 2 channel amps.

Makes a lot of sense, I really didn't want to have 2 different pairs of speakers with different wattages anyway. As for the componet speakers, I haven't the slightest knowledge of tweeters. I was planning on spending 2500 and carefully selecting all the components and ordering them. Then I will find a custom installer or dealer to install all the stuff. Still have to find the installer.

Thanks

we can help walk you through this stuff man. I did my first car audio install when i was still 15. It's not too hard...now i have done so many it comes REALLY easy. So, yeah...i'd go with the us acoustics 4085...it'll be great. good luck man, peace

Thanks for the help.

Ok I think I got it.

So stick with the 4085 to push two sets of CL-6x

or for one set of HD-62 and one set of CL-6x.

It does seem like a waste to have speakers (HD's) with only 85 watts behind them and being cabable of handeling 180.

instead of the 2 sets of cl-6x go with 1 set of cdt cl-61 and one set of the cl-6x in the back. the components will sound great in the front and the cl-6x would be the rear fill. do you have any other speakers up front like in the dash?

My opinion is go with an Eclipse deck, Diamond Audio Hex series up front, diamond M6 or M3 series in the rears on a Diamond 300.4 or a 600.4 4 channel amp & a diamond TDX 10 or 12 dual 2 ohm sub on either a diamond 600.1 or a 1200.1. Diamonds sound quality is the SH*t

That's a good idea. Those two are much closer in wattage and better since one is a component set.

No other speakers in the dash. I don't have a holes for them in the Civic. Just holes for front doors and back window.

I know the US Acoustic USX4085 will do the job well to push those speakers, but how does the Hifonic Zeus zx6400 compare?

I have also been looking closely at the Magnum D2 sub but is the Hifonic BX1500d to much to push it or should I pick the BX1000D.

Any good enclosure advice for this sub? Where to buy one or get one made for it? Ported or sealed?

Thanks for the advice, I will have to look into diamnod audio. I have never heard of them.

INFO and Literature

Since I keed hearing names of audio equipment dropped that I have never heard about, I decided in addition to reading in this form and carstereo.com's form I went out and picked up some mags. I got Mobile Entertainment, Car Audio and Electronics, Car Sound and Performance, and Total Car Audio. What are some other good mags to look for to school myself in car stereos?

Is there any other good info like install guides or books to learn how to put this stuff together, or is that something I have to try and figure out?

Just really want to learn more about this stuff. Any advice wuld be helpful.

Well, i'd say the XXX12 and the magnum d2 are comparable to the W7 12. Also, they offer better SPL...cost less...and handle more power than the W7. The w7 will only have the edge in SQ by a little...and that also depends on the install. and icetee's recommendations on the cl-61's and the cl-6x's would be great with the 4085. peace

Hi guys, I'm here to completely spam the heck out of this site. You ask what is the best, and I just happen to supply a link to the online car audio site I own that is well overpriced and not authorized for many of the brands. I try and place these links so I don't get caught. Well, you got caught. Nice try, but it won't get by me.
