Building homemade sub grill?

I have the new 2016 Kicker CVR 12s and I'm trying to make a homemade sub grill (couple of small wooden boards going across the subs screwed into the box). Would I need to make the gap between the wooden boards and subs to specs of how big the XMAX (14mm) would be? What do you guys recommend? Thanks

if the xmax is 14mm then 14 millimeters it

will travel. i dont get what ur really asking

Yeah, I'm confused aswell. Just make sure the sub can extend forward 14mm without hitting the grill.
