Building Box against Wall ( Need Suggestions )

I was doing some searching and read that someone with a mini-truck was able to fit a 12" Atlas into a reg cab by building the box to the back wall which would take out the .75"-1" MDF for the rear of the box allowing a decent sized sub to fit. Does anyone have any information on how to do this? Im assuming he had to have used at least some time of sealant between the back of the wall and the box or possibly glassed? Any info is greatly appreciated

Basically just build it like normal, minus the back, and screw it into the back wall. Expanding foam should give a pretty airtight seal.
