ok this has been a year long operation so far and all i have are the blueprints:

i know i want to spend somewhere between 2000-2500

- i want a deck (alpine cda 7893 or 7977), an equalizer- pheonix gold with line driver probably model 215, some alpine components 6X9's with tweeters, fiberglassed enclosure for subs

now the problem: what subs, what amp

i've asked myself this question for a long time

i'm looking to spend 1500-2000 for these

i want either 2 13.5w7's by jl audio powered each by jl1000.1 amp or 2 8" l7's with 2 12" l7's

don't know what the amp would be.

if you guys have any other recommendations for subs and amp please comment.

i'm looking for sound quality as well as SOME bass but also bass that lets me hear my music.

ALSO IF ANY OF YOU ARE IN CANADA OR CLOSE TO IT I WILL DO BUSINESS WITH U

i'd recommend goin with JBL1200.1 amps for the w7's.........if you don't know anything about JBL the 1200.1 is 1200watts r.m.s. so your pushin 2400watts peak out of 1 amp....you can get them online for about $400 you can also find the w7's online for about $500

then you dont know much about your amps. you said they push 2400Watts? uh no. 1200W (really about 1400), divide that into two speakers, that is 600W RMS per sub. plus, if you spent 400 for those amps, you got ripped off. $285 shipped for a brand new JBL bp1200.1 from http://www.ikesound.com

as for amps on those W7, do not use the JBL. they will make those subs sound like crap. The best amp is the JL 1000/1 but it is VERY expensive. if you want to go with only one amp, look into these http://www.directed.com/audio/viper/amps/amp_classd.asp . i heard the d2500.1 goes for about $1500, maybe less. that will give you good clean power, save you about $500, and add about 500W over the JL amps.

JBL says they are stable at 1Ohm, but i have heard they get really hot. i bet at full power they wouldn't last much longer than a couple hours before going into protection.

worse ive ever heard about them at one ohm was that they got a little warm which can easily be solved by adding a fan....good luck

hmm. nm then. that is what i heard, of course i never saw the install either, who know what it could have been like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .

completely wrong. don't post incorrect facts. the JBL website says that the amp is 1Ohm stable but there is no power gain from 2Ohms to Ohm. meaning that it puts out 1200RMS at 2Ohms and at 1Ohm.
