Alright, I am going to trust you guys to build my setup as I have no idea what to get or look for. I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GL, I want something that sounds great in all types of music and pounds hard when I want it to if that is possible. I have a budget of like 4-6 hundred dollars so I am looking to stay within that for now. Here is what I have at the moment,

Sony Head-unit Model CDXGT22W

Sony Xplod 4x6s in the doors, the 4-way 140watt

Sony Xplod 6x9s in the back, the 4-way 270watt

two 10" Jensen XBase Subs(guessing their 3000watts) in a bandpass box

The subs and speakers are hooked up to a 400watt Jensen 4-channel amp. If none of that is usable let me know, if I can use it then great saves me some money maybe... lol. But yeah, just throw the ideas out there and how much it would cost.

Thanks in advance,

BJ Moreton

You're going to get fifteen million different opinions, and unfortunately they are all equally right. You'd be better off just asking for the help of a single person who knows somewhat what they're doing

Man ....

i better not get flamed for this but its gonna have to be a budget setup number 1... number two .... upgrading the speakers gonna put it over budget

2X kicker cvr 10's .. dual 4 ohm(for 1 ohm amps) dual 2 for 2 ohm amps... 400 rms... $140

profile ha 740 ... cheap reliable 4 ch amp... 60wx4 rms... 70-80$

hifonics bxi 600 or similar budget amp ------ ~ $150-$300

rest for wires... keep the stuff you got now

ditch the probably prefab or " package deal" box and make a decent sealed/ported

find some used decent stuff at pawn shop/craigslist and talk em down if you can

I found my audiomobile subs at a pawn shop for $140, i told the guy I had $80

he took it cuz they were no name subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

id probably buy in parts right now and save up for butter stuff and do it right the first time. with what i have spent on shitty stuff i could of had a great system.

if you want cheap, go with pyle brother

quit posting...u give the worst advice

for op

I just recenlty put a pretty decnt setup togehter and u could follow if u want something semi loud

hey, where do you get a brutus for 145 bucks? Ive been looking for one. Thanks

i dont know if you want loud bass or something that sounds good, but i would just buy your system piece by piece and save your money up. Start with a bunch of deadening for the best results, then buy a nice cd player... pioneer p880 is what most people run around here or the alpine9887. Then when you get some more money buy a decent comp set and amp, and then if you want more bass get a nice little sub/amp... It will be a WAY better investment and you wont feel like you wasted your money on a bunch of junk.... most people will tell you the same thing and its the honest truth.

yeah, upgrading sucks. Buy some pheonix gold comps for 50-100 bucks, get a decent pioneer head unit and grab a cadence amp or something to power the components and your shit will get loud. For the sub, probably something like an alpine type r or something to start out with. You don't want to go to expensive on the sub because the sub amp will just end up being more.

Alright thanks for the opinions I will look into it all Monday when I've got more time and Sunday Rashaddd is giving me a setup I will look into as well. Thanks again.

i just bought another system for my 01 ford explorer and here is what i got:

off ebay:

2 pairs of PG RSD65CS 6.5" components for $87 each set

1 PG 4aug amp kit for $30 -new

off amazon.com:

1 panasonic CQ-8803u head unit @ $197 shipped -refurbished

i picked up a set of 15" eclipse subs (black cone) for $100 used locally

and plan on using a jl 300/2 that i already have to push them for the time being.

so for $500 i got decent stuff that should sound pretty good for the price. you can find good stuff for cheap, but you hve to have the patience to take the time to look for the deals.

thanks

anthony
