Depending on what you're looking for, I would look very closely at the Magnepan line. You can get your 5 main channels starting at under 1k. Hard to beat at that price IMHO. AND they have a 60 day return policy (factory direct) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

That leaves a sub for which you have "many" affordable options (diy or otherwise) as well as enough money left over for a 2nd hand pre and amp separates. I won't go too far down this path because your needs and mileage may vary. My personal preference will always be to go with separates if finances allow. I have never been overwhemled by an all in one.

If you have the room, a VMPS "larger" sub is very fast and musical but can lift your house off its foundations too (-3db @ 16hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif). http://www.vmpsaudio.com

For cabling I'd personally go with anti-cable which is by far the cheapest "high end" cable you can buy.
