budget build

SDC2.5's will do good off that power. I ran 2 12's in my daily for about a year. Was very musical and got respectably loud.

Running a 15" Q in the wife's ride, but might switch up to SDC's over the winter. Q is too bottom heavy and rolls off too fast on the top end. Not great for rock/metal which is what she mostly listens to.

good info..... yeah this build will be for my wife's Xterra. im leaning towards the AQ's. seem like the best bang for the buck right now in my price range, plus seem like a sturdy sub that will last. she doesnt want anything crazy but enjoys the bass. whenever i decide on equipment i will start piecing things together and install everything at once.

With 1500 watts on tap at 1ohm, and a $200.00 subwoofer budget, I would recommend looking into a single D2 15" driver that will deliver in a decent box. Set the amp to produce 1000 to 1250 watts and have a nice day.

He's got plenty of space, but it's going in his wifes Xterra. So he's not trying to take it all up, lol. I personally think the 2 12" over 1 15" his better for his aplication. He's not trying to go crazy.

so, you are saying 2 cheap 12's in 4^3 on 500w ea would be better than 1 good 15" in 3.75^3 on 1000w?

would you say that 2 SDC2.5's would be "cheap"? Cause they arent HDC's (or any other high end sub)??? They will work just as fine for the aplication he's going to use them for. Again, they are for his wife, not him. They don't need to be outragous and put up a 150+.

I think you are very confused. Yes, a $100 subwoofer is cheap. Sure, there are better cheap subs than others, for example, a Powerbass L-12 would be a much smarter buy than a AQ SDC 2.0...LOL...and not to burst u bubble, but AQ HDC's are not High End subs. I did not recommend a SPL set up, as you seem to imply...A far better substage than you keep suggesting, but not a SPL monster by any means. The OP wants loud bass for his wife and I suggested a smart alternative to buying cheaper subs.

If you had suggested the OP go with 2 12's and left it at that, this discussion would not be needed. Since you seem to have a personal stake in this and choose to criticize my suggestion, Please explain the advantages of 2 cheap 12's in a bigger box on 1/2 the power VS 1 solid 15" in a similar box on 2x the power??

ps.. My wife has a 2000 watt system and 2-15's in her SUV, so I totally know where OP is coming from on this.

pss...My suggestion costs $19 over the OP budget.....you continue suggesting $78.00 over budget...why?

what vic(oxsign) said....

not looking to blow the back hatch off the truck.....simply a daily listener with appeal in the box design since it will be glassed etc. as far as space goes, she wants the back cargo area all glassed for the most part.

I think you are giving the IA subs more credit than is applicable here...I know they are good subs, sound good, handle the power, etc..I was just tossing out there an idea that would accomplish your goals with 1 good sub close to the budget you stated.

Since you were simply "tossing out the idea" of 1 15", we will leave it at that then. I don't want to clutter up OP's thread with this. You made you suggestion I made mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif
