Break in my new sub?

I just bought a 12" alpine type x and an Alpine 1000 watt amp... Should I break the sub in before I crank the volume up? I've already turned it up today right after install, but i read somewhere that they should be broken in. If so, is it supposed to get louder? thanks.

I have seen several threads asking the same question and the majority of the people who posted on them said breaking in subs is unneccessary, I too think it is, crank it up and let it naturally break itself in, on all my subs I immediately turned the volume right on up and never had any problems

thanks for the replies... In your experience do subs get louder after a while of use? It already sounds pretty good for only one 12 but still not exactly like i expected. I heard these are supposed to be pretty close to the jl w7. Do ya'll think that's true? i went with these cause of the price.

I find only certain subs will sound different after a "breakin" period, it all depends on the types of materials that the suspention uses. Eclipse subs are an example of a sub that will sound better after breakin. Pioneer subs are an example of ones that will not change after a breakin period.

As for the W7, the W7 has stronger technical specs then the type X, so technically it will outperform the type X.

most manufacture reccomend breaking in a sub for max Q...so if your not afetr that, hammer it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
