box volume and effects on a subwoofer

right now my box is 7.66 cubic ft, and is tuned to 37 hz.

my goal is 33 hz, but in order to keep same box and just make port longer, i will be losing 1.66 cubes of box volume, putting me @ 6 cubes even @ 33hz and i will be adding 19.25" to the port length.

question is, what will the difference in sound and air movement from the loss in box volume.

will it move more or less air? will it sound better or worse in term of quality and spl?

You wont be able to tell the difference in spl by ear. Your score may go down due to lost efficiency by shrinking the box. But may seem louder to the ear because your peak will be lower. As far as moving air..... low freq moves tons. IMO tuned to 33hz sounds alot better for daily use

Something sounds wrong to make a drop of only 4tints ha and equal 1.6 cubes of space. Must be a massive port in area.
