i am building a box for my 15" mag that'll be 3.7 tuned to 27hz.Was wondering if that's too low for tuning.I do prefer low bass but still want a loud set up in general.I will be pushing the sub with 1000 rms.So will i still be able to get a good punch in the 40-50 hz range as well?

You dont want 27....your subs will barely ever see that in a daily setup. After having my first low tuned system right now at 35 hz, its still even a little low, even though I think its tuned closer to 32

well my last box was tuned to 30hz and it played everything that i wanted it too.I personally think 35hz is too high though.I was just wondering if anyone out there has a low tuned box in the 25-29hz range and if it plays in the 40-50 hz range any good.

Personal preference. I have my current box @ 27Hz and wouldn't have it any other way. 35Hz, to my ears, has way too much LF rolloff to sound anywhere near "decent" to me.

If you want a lot of musicality in your setup, and can sacrifice some in metered output, go with the sub-30-tuned enclosure.

"Too low" would be 25Hz or lower...you don't need to tune that low in a vehicle due to the reinforcement in the bottom octave you'll get from cabin gain. The reason you see really low tunings (20Hz, even subsonic ones) for HT boxes is because you don't have the cabin gain at home that you have in a vehicle.

and if it plays in the 40-50 hz range any good.
If you're looking for a peaky response, tuning low isn't for you...my 27Hz box sucks for competition purposes, because I burp exactly an octave above Fb. Hello, impedance rise. I'm burping into a 10 ohm load...even though the "nominal" impedance is 4 ohms.

I went from a 27hz tunned box with 2 18"xxx to a 35hz tunned box with 4 18" MT.

and i love the 35hz tunning

only thing i miss the 27hz box for is the song "soul survivor"
