Box size?

If this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move. My question is, is larger better? Right now I am running 2 12" Type R's on a Memphis 1000d. They are in a 3.5 cuft box tuned to 38hz. Currently I am hitting 143.2db. If I were to build a larger box would that help increase my spl? Sorry if this is a noob question.

larger boxes aren't neccesarily better. it differs from sub to sub. mine are sealed, but i've heard people say just a little over 4 cubes tuned to 32 for daily is nice for R's.
