box size help

hey guys right now i have a budget system in my new car, (car payments taking most of my money) its a 2004 type R 15", a lanzar opti 1400D, and a dual ported box 4 cubes tuned to 39 htz. Is there any way i can get this setup sounding any better? I was thinking about getting a different box built or trying myself. Smaller box tuned lower? Bigger box? slot box not ported?

any inputs appreciated.

Whoa,yeah tune lower like 32-35Hz.....you're tuned at 39Hz so you should be peaking at about49-52Hz which is pretty non musical and what could be called a fart box.

as far as the remote gain control knob...IDK.

Is it a slot port box or is it a cylindrical/aeroport box?

Also is it pre fab becuase if it is I'd throw it out and build my own box for it.

Definately build it yourself or have a good friend that knows what they are doing build it....

Try one of Moe Lesters box plans which can be found in the enclosure design section of this forum.

I use his 4ft^3 @ 35Hz box plans.

Correct me if I am wrong but you have only one 15" Type R in a 4ft^3 dual ported box....does that mean that it fits two 15" subs or that it has two ports becuase 99% of the time that means it will fit two subs...

If it's two 15" Type R's then that box is too small unless you're looking for more SQ then SPL.

If it's one Type R the that box size is about right but maybe a lil to big IMO.

it is one 15" and it has two aeroports...

so 4 cubes its a little big

and 39htz is a little high

how about just a new box?...im talking with a kid i know who just had a box built by iampimp (sp?) and said its real nice....how many cubes and what tuning do you think i should go with....sloted maybe?
