Box Question

look i came out withWIDTH = 30"

HIGHT= 30"

DEPTH = 20" (it can be decreased)

if this is ok with u , hit me back ,

and yes your box design can be build , but it will be very hard (VERY HARD) because u have like more than 6 small sides.

height is way to big... the most i have is around 18"

holy crap has this gotten over complicated...
first of all, sorry for the misunderstanding, by your first post i thought you were doing this in a truck. it doesnt change much other then the difficulty of the fiberglass.

second, IMO you should def fiberglass for what you're looking to do.

third, you're running one xxx 15?

as a rough estimate, how wide is the shortest width of your trunk? (i.e. bottom of wheel well to bot whl well). Also, shortest height, and max depth you're willing to sacrifice.... given these things we can give you a low estimate of how much net volume you could get.

fourth, if a low ball estimate is 6 cubes, you should get a good bit more then that once glassed into all those little spaces (giving you displacement headroom for port & driver.

Glass or all mdf: if you have to make it first to measure INTernal volume the MAKE THE BOX QUITE A BIT BIGGER THEN 6.0 CUBES. Then later on you can add dead fill to the box to bring the volume down to 6.0 net (meaning your total internal volume is 6.0 + driver displacement + port displacement).

YES it will work. Its not really that hard. With one xxx in that area (of your trunk) you should have enough room for a 6cube ported box. You just have to get the measurements right to make sure your enclosure is tuned where you want it. Its NO MORE complicated then that.

Worst case, build or glass the box too big, calc & recalc your port (cant get around that even with a regular cubic box), then fill the box itself to where your port calcs will work.

YES IT WILL WORK. just a lil more work involved. Should not be a big deal. We can help, its just that you have the hard part of measuring out that enclosure.

I dont know any other ways to say it, i'm sorry if its not clear enough.

1 xxx 15

Short width of the car is 30"

Shortest height is around 17inch

Max Depth: 20"

you say fiberglass... fiberglass the whole trunk or i can have ports with mdf and parts of glass?

30*17*20 = 5.9 cubes.

I'm *guesstimating* that if you glass the sides of that box you will be able to pick up what you need.

MDF the bottom, top, face & back. Double baffle the front with a couple braces in there and I think you might just be able to do it.

Should be killer looking install too... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

*BTW, might wanna make some room through the rear deck shelf to let some noise in. Think of it as venting the trunk into the cabin.

Oh, and spend some quality time with your favorite deadener back there.

this is aaaaalll i can do for u check the attachment, and yes

width is 36" its not the shortest width, the enclosure doesnt have to be touching the bottom of the trunk , check attachment.

and how r u planing to fit a 15" there?

from the bottom of the trunk (not where the hump is) to the top is around 17.5 -18

this was from my design.

your design had 17.5 inches from the hump.. dont have that much space...

**** what 2 do????

cant we make the center of the box a lil bigger to the 15. like drop the center of the box ( the part not touching the floor ) down a bit.??

yeah it can be done, easily, but calculations , will take way too long time,

can u give me the MAX hight from the two humps??

and the total hight from the bottom of the trunk ?? will be great ,

am tryin to design u the easiest design to build //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

will get you measurements first thing tomorrow.

building is not a problem. i have all tools and wood. my dad is contractor.... i could just have 1 the guys build the box and call it a day.. heh..

thanks Bass outlaw and others! you guys are really helpful.

ok from the hump... i have around 14.5

as you can see in the pic.. i have a nav unit right under the rear deck. im gonna try to relocate it. If not, could we just build around that part and increase more on the top to even it out?

14.5*20*36 / 1728= 6.04 CUBES

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=192289

guys on that site say the sub will be luder if firing towards the rear. 1 prob. i dont have fold down seats or an arm rest. i can punch out a ski pass to allow more bass into the cabin. its just a metal plate with a few welds. I can also remove speakers from the rear deck.

where would a port be if a sub was firing the rear.... ( or it doesnt matter)
