box not sounding right

i have 2 jl 12w6v2-d4, both wired for 4ohm, and its hookup to a ppi art series 1200.2 amp, where if its 4ohm, it will output 1200watts bridged mono, its sounds somewhat okay, the box plans were per jl specs, for one sub, so i just double the length to have 2 subs, its a sealed box, with center divider, but when i push the sub down to see if the seal is holding, only a little but, not a tight seal where the sub slowing sucks air to get back into its normal position, i am using a clarion vrx935vd dvd touch hu unit, then to a audio control eipicenter, then a audiocontrol eqs, i do have and tried ppi equipment like eq, and crossover frx456, that sounded pretty good when it was setup for a mtx 9500 sub dvc, and mtx 10d, but i think that and had to much thd distortion, but that even sound alot better, so i figured i upgrade on the bass part, i totally think it needs tweaking, but is the box, the accessories(eq,xover, etc..). so anyone got any suggestions, like maybe i should go ported instead? or change to other equipment, got lots of audiocontrol stuff, mayb i should got with sep. units, thanks, for any helpful input.

have you changed the settings on the epicenter?

if not you still have it tuned to the old subs and box, and need to adjust to the new subs and box

the bass does not have a good tight thump to it, the highs are not crisp, and its like a orchestra and not everyone is playing their instruments on key.

i did make the box out of jl specs, and put soundeadner inside, its the insulation you put in home theater or sound rooms. but you might be right. its sealed right now, but it still leaks air from somewhere, its siliconed at every gap. i was thinking of going ported.
