Box help needed!!

Kickers recommended street bass box for the l7 15 is 4.50 at 32x17.75x19. I cant do 32 wide because of a cross member in the rear of my trunk. I can do 29x17.75x19. I know this will bring the cuft down but will it change the port feq? they are saying .42 cuft port vol which is

14.75 x 16.25 x 3.

Also they have this box ported on the side. If I wanted to put the port on the front I know I use the same measurment but with the port being almost 15 long and the box only being 19" deep will I have add a bend to the port? Would it sound better on the front?
