Box from Best Buy?

That box looks really cool... but $170 and they didnt even bother to use 3/4 inch MDF? thats extremely overpriced and will get you nowhere near the performance you would get with a custom ported box.
A good box will cost you no more than $65 to design, build, and carpet

a revised list of box materials, I dont really agree with all the prices on that other list.

Box Design: $10

Big-*** Sheet of MDF: $20

Nails: $5

Caulk: $5

Wood Glue: $5

Carpeting: $10-15
whos using nails?

here was mine i just built a ported box today,

6 bucks plans from moe lester,

had a 2.99 bottle of elmers wood glue,

had 1.99 bottle of caulk

.99 caulk gun

sheet of mdf 28, went up 7 bucks since february

screws 2.99 for like a lb of 1 1/4

so 43 bucks, i had all of the stuff from the last one so it costed 28 bucks

dude i sell car audio (at best buy) and for R's (or E's) that box is tight deep and sounds great no matter what kindof car it is; not only that but it looks GREAT. true you could probably build a better box but that requires work and most people that shop at best buy dont like to do that anyway.. but definately get the service plan.

i have herd that same box at best buy and it does sound very very nice with the type-e but with the type-r to me it sound like crap.

the type-r likes a different size enclosure then the type-e.

the best buy by my house one of the guys is building custom boxes now but he wants to charge $300 for a dual 12 box. i laughed at him and told the manager that if someone doesnt want to pay it let me know i will do it for $100. but defently build a box and return that box it is crap. they leak like hell and have plastic all over that rattles

take the cheap route. Schuck it. I would say your limiting your potential in optimum performance with your subs to be honest in my opinion. I think most would agree. What happened to your custom box with initials? YOu get what you pay for.

that's funny, i have charged close to $200 for strait MDF slot ported w/carpet enclosure for a guy in Florida.

i don't think i would build them for $100 though.
