Box Finishing questions

That looks pretty nice, is it durable?
It was pretty durable for me, that box was dragged in and out of my Blazer every weekend during the summer for two years and still looked good when I threw it out. No matter what you coat it with you'll always have a chance of denting the wood or causing a small chip or something. That box in the pic was coated in fiberglass resin before it was painted, made it very strong and durable.

I probably wont do the resin part as I have no experience in that, is it hard? I'd be able to use like any color I want underneath the speckle finish right? Also what brand did you use?

You can use whatever color you want under it, just gotta remember that whatever color you go with will be showing through all the speckles. Resin isn't very hard to use, it's a learning experience. just gotta get a disposable mixing bowl, paint brushes, gloves, small mixing stick, the resin and hardener. The hard part is getting the right amount of hardener in the resin, too much and it dries before your done, too little and it doesn't completely dry. A little extra is alway better than too little. I normally let mine sit for 24 hours to dry completely before painting it.
