Box for 2 IA LI 15's

ok, so im about to pick up some of these lethal injection 15's tomorrow, pretty excited, however, ive never quite made a box this large for 2 subs like this..

I have a general idea, however im not sure what my best options would be.

Im looking at 7 cubic feet, tuned to 32 hz.. the only issue is, will it be okay to have the subs firing up and the port to the side? I think i want to run 1 6inch flared aero, unless its better for me to have two.. which brings me to my next point.. the port calculator tells me to have only a 6 1/4 inch deep port if i use ONE six inch aero.. does this sound about right? in that case, how long should they be for two?

TLDR:

7 cubic feet tuned to 32 hz sound good?

1 6 inch diameter 6.25inch deep aero port sound good?

2 6 inch diameter X inch deep aero ports sound better?

PS: looking for loudboom booms.. SQ is secondary as long as it doesnt sound like complete crap.

Thankyou!

You're definitely going to want dual 6" aeros...or just a big slot port. Box size and tuning seems in the ballpark for normal. As far as sub/port direction goes, it just depends on your vehicle and what works best.

Well id either be putting the two subs on the top near the back of the box closer to the seats, or id be putting them like, caddy corner to each other, it seems like 2 aero's would be easier to place than a huge slot port, would you agree?

Not really since the cutout for a 6" aero is 8.25" wide, and the overall diameter of the aero is 9.25" or something like that. In my opinion it'd be easier to just do a slot port going down one wall and having the subs on top...what vehicle is this going in?

a 94 cutlass sierra

So a side firing vent may be easier? i think i have 13 inches of internal height to work with, do you think that would work at like, 6 inches wide? also, id have room for 2 6 inch aeros facing the back of the trunk towards the latch, would that work as well? because idk if i had a 13x6(.75)x X port will allow me to get 7 cubic feet, i already have to build most of the box in my trunk as it is to hopefully be able to reach 7 cubes

Do you already have the subs??

Many trunks get tight with big subs and boxes, due to that 2x12's or 2-3 10's tend to make louder spl.

Now if you fire port/sub forward and seal off the trunk you'll be good

Either way you'll want to brace the box w/ threaded rod or dowel's, possibly 45's in the corners

True. OP only has 13" of height, so doing 15's means he has to fire them up, and presumably close to the trunk lid.

This is a fact. Not only do i only have 13 internal height to work with, but i am STRUGGLING for space with a simple 4.25 cubic ft box.. this means i will have to build the box inside of the trunk.. Is there ANY way i can go with less airspace? Maybe closer to 6? the 8 inch mounting depth is killing me otherwise id just make the box lower..

ps- i do not think i have the room to do a slot port.. would an 8 inch aero be sufficient port for it? Also, would it be better to run 1 at lke, 3-4 cubic feet or 2 of them sealed?

your much better off with a pair of 12's in a trunk and the space you have. You can squeeze an extra .3 cubes or so using a single 6" aeroport instead of slot port

if you are set on 15's then either wall it or go sealed

yup, tradin those and an amp across..

and idk how in the world id wall them off in the trunk of a car.. like, id have to build it in the trunk correct? im not SET, but at this deal i cannot pass em up,

Well long story short I'vedecided to go with just 1 15.. and I've come up with a 39x16x17 box which leads to 3.7cubic ft and 57 sq inches of port.. however that givesbme a 14.5x4 inch wide port.. will that be wide enogh for 1 15 or should I go with a 5 inch port? Idk if I have the room for that however

You should be fine with that. You have roughly 15 sq. in. per cu. ft. Was the port displacement factored into the 3.7 cubes?
