I need plans for a JL Audio 13.5 W7. Friend has a JL 1000/1 amp powering it. It will hit, he just needs a box. He plays mostly rap and its loud. Someone help me out?

3.2cuft tuned to 34hz before sub but after port. That should get you to around 2.8cuft and take tuning down to around 32-33hz, good for loud and low

LOL! First off, I doubt the JL occupies 0.4 cubic feet of space, it's a big woofer, but its closer to 0.15-0.25 Hell, the DD 9512g is like 0.2 and it has a much bigger magnet assembly. Second... where the hell did you get the idea that taking up volume makes the tuning go down???

Let's say hypothetically speaking, this woofer takes up the full 0.4 cubic feet you claim. So, you build a box at 3.2 cubic feet tuned to 35Hz lets say. If the woofer were to take up 0.4 cubic feet, how would the tuning go down? By dropping the net volume to 2.8 you infact raise the tuning to 38, which is far from the 32 you're claiming.

Not being an ***, just stating some facts. I just don't want this guy to go out and build a box based on uninformed advice.

13" W7 only occupies 0.21 cubic feet. So a box @ 3.2 would drop it to 3.0 flat pretty much.

I would say build a box to like 3.2 @ 33 Hz. Once the sub is in, it will be @ 3 cubic feet flat @ 35Hz which should be a nice well rounded size and tune. Should be about the right size, still good power handling without sounding boomy for nice tight bass but still loud. 35 Hz should get plenty low for all the rap you listen too. Mines around 36 and I hit all the notes on Jeezy with pretty good force for 10's.
