actually you dont even have to make a box. just use the first one you see

its a little hard to see but ill write it out for a 12x12x12 box with a standard port on the front side as seen in the pic that will be 3" wide.

top and bottom pieces will be 12"w x 12"d

side pieces will be 12"d x 10.5"h

back will be 10.5"h x 10.5"w

front will be 10.5"h x 7.5"w

does that make sense about how you subtract 1.5" (assuming your using 3/4" mdf) from the sides. just like i said though you either subtract or add depending on if your using internal or external dimensions.

what you mean subs facing up on the back?

you mean subs facing up on the top of the box?

if thats the case you can basically put the subs anywhere you want on the box so long as they are firing in the same direction. and thats to minimize cancellation. it doesnt affect the box in anyway shape of form. you can basically build that box and then put anything that fits into it (as long as its cubic requirements are met)

Is 33 hz. ok for 10's??? I want the to get low and I want the bass to solid. last time i built a box the subs sounded like paper. not solid at all.

just to give you an idea

do you think lil scrappy - no problems has a low bass line? or three 6 mafia - late night tip?

the lowest bass on boths songs is

32hz for no problem and 33hz for late night tip. thats just to give you an idea, that even the super low sounding tones in rap are still not THAT low. they're low but they arent 20hz or anything like that.

33hz would be fine. you probably wont notice much of a difference in where you peak out at until you start to move up by 5hz or so in actual tuning.

dont pay attention to that second post of his. not saying its bad info, just saying its confusing.

best thing to do is make a random box on RE just so you can see a picture. then you can see which sides overlap and which ones dont. all he was doing in the second post was subtracting and adding 1.5" (mdf is .75 inches. so since you have 1 layer on each end of the box you have to add 1.5" to the internal dimensions to account for it).

BTW:

1) thugs dont go to/finish college....
