Box design and advice please? ($)

Hi all,

I've purchased a pair of Tang Band W69-1436 6x9 (sub)woofers which I intend to put in my (UK) Escort saloon (eg, metal rear deck, not hatch).

I intend to build a slimline box to sit on the underside of the rear deck, with the two speakers sealed to the original 5x7 openings (not sure if there's scope to open those holes out yet).

Could someone take a look and perhaps advise on what kind of box would be better? I'm just trying to make the best out of what i've got here. I bought these speakers as I am constrained on space as I need the boot/trunk for carrying stuff but still want the additional bass, somehow.

Sealed, ported? Porting might be a problem as there are only two holes in the cabin, eg, the OE speaker holes. It might be an option to drill say a single round port into the middle of the deck without affecting the structural integrity too much.

I would go ported with those drivers. Maybe a 6th order bandpass would work firing each of the two ports out of a 5x7 cutout. If not then cut a new hole for the port. I'm not sure how it would sound if you fired the port into the trunk but the subs into the cabin.

I'll be taking some photos and get some dimensions of the deck tomorrow...

So anyone able to take a peep at the data and come up with a box volume, port type, etc? I am willing to pay for success. Ha ha.

I don't know... That's why I posed the question.

I seem to remember hearing that they were designed to be ran IB... thought if I asked the question, someone who does know, for sure, would respond.

Hmmm today I had a bit more of a thorough look at this rear deck.. i'm not sure how feasible my plan is now actually.. here are a few pics:

I think any potential box is going to end up quite complicated........
