box dampening question

I am building a box 26X18X6.5 and i am not going to carpet it. Do i need to and insulation inside to help dampen it or not? (SEALED BOX) I was going to stain it a dark cherry color. I dont want to spend the money on carpet and ive never carpeted anything so any input would be helpful.

(subs are 2 pioneer premier ts-sw1241d 12" 250rms/1000peak)

(i am using a kenwood kac-x812d to power them- 800rms@2ohms)

What are you building the box out of? I've never heard of anyone staining MDF. I suppose it's possible, but I don't know how it would turn out. Just beware that it'll really soak up a lot of stain! I've painted MDF boxes before and it usually requires 2 coats of primer and then 2 coats of paint. You gotta lay it on thick! Post pics if you try it!
