We Should Have one. There would be rules and then we vote who gets to try the best box out, and take it to comps or show. I was thinking like must use mdf, no fiberglass. Let me know what u all think

but then we're going to have to set a maximum thickness, otherwise people will just use 5in+ of mdf. maybe an in. max, then we can set dimension requirements(like 32x15x15), and volume. i say internal volume only because you could be using up like 4cu. ft. in bracing. but sounds like a fun idea.

I figure I can make a pretty solid box... only problem is, takes too much time for me to make one...kind of a perfectionist when it comes to building boxes...doesn't mean my boxes are perfect, not pretty..lol, I just try the best that I can manage.. spent 2 weeks making my first box...always giving it a minimum of 24hours for glue/silicone to set.

hmm, don't you think if anyone who's had previous experience building boxes be4, makes a box using 1"MDF with precut wood, most boxes are gonna withstand even a pair of DD's on a full load?

recommended thickness is at an average of 3/4"...

some boxes are made of 5/8" MDF though...older ones...

and at 1/2", maybe HDF might be able to withstand it, although I'm not sure at all of this fact... jmac told me before that HDF has quite a lot of disadvantages...

i say maybe make a box using gypsum board,,, THEN box building techniques will REALLY come into play...no brace, no play...imagine the flex on that thing...should have an xmax of its own...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif :laugh:
