No thats not what I'm saying... Chris has given me sufficient port area the way it is... I dont need anymore. And like I said earlier, the dummy port is an option a customer has when they come to me. I want to be able to display every option with this build. But what you're saying is that you'd rather go with looks over performance, in a way?
i think he just choosing the design for symetrical purposes to fill voids in the install space. it also adds creative value instead of just blank beauty panels. If he's happy with a standard 4th order design, theres really no sense in straying from that.Which means he's choosing looks over performance, in this particular scenario.
I'm not trying to be a dick, by any means, I just wanna know tha reasoning behind it.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
I'm not saying whoever that dude is does not know what he is talking about.Yeah, YOU know what you're talking about, Chris doesn't. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
ABCs really don't offer any advantage compared to a ported enclosure tuned to the same frequency except for some more cone control. The output is going to remain basically the same with a little worse sound quality due to the high group delay you will have with the second tuning. There really won't be an output gain around the second tuning though. There will be a noticeable difference in low end extension and output with the 4th order though.I'm not saying whoever that dude is does not know what he is talking about.
But I do know what I am talking about. I am a mechanical engineer, and I know a few things about car audio. Just because I haven't posted a bunch on this site doesn't mean I don't know my stuff.
And yeah, I'd take a double chamber reflex design over a 4th order bandpass design any day. The ABC box allows for two tuning frequencies. One is an octave above the other. It makes for a very efficient design that can get real low. And with the wasted space of that box, thats what I would have done.
Just my opinion though. Don't get your panties in a bunch![]()
Please!! Excusess excusess....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gifWell guys, unfortunately, I didnt get to start on this today. Had some other boxes to build, and took longer than I was expecting. Then it was time to watch some football. Hopefully tomorrow...
LOL, did you bother to read the reasons why Im doing the box like I am? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifI like it, but your wasting half the box/trunk space to nothing (if I'm looking at the pics correctly)
