Hey all...

This was my first box build... It is for 2-10" Clarion Shallow Subs... It goes behind the rear seat of a crew cab...

These are the 80% finished pics...sorry i didnt think to take pics along the way. But it is made out of 1/2 MDF, the biggest span is 11" where the subs mount, I figured that 1/2" was plunty strong for that, what you think? What you cant see is the back, it is in a U shape, I made the front the Full sheet and didnt continue with the U shape to hide, and then also I might figure out a way to cut out a place for my amp. I used Clear Silicone to seal all of the joints, I think it looks decent.

All I have to do is get the thing where the subs hook up to to go to the exterior of the box, wire it up, put the front on... Finishing sanding, paint, sand, paint, sand, sand, clear, and least but not least throw my subs in there and wire them up.

Now on to the pics!

Gloss Black... Going for the factory painted look...My paint plan is...

Prime

Sand 60grit

Paint Gloss Black

Sand 200grit, 400 grit

Paint Gloss Black

400 grit, 600grit (wet), 1000grit(wet)

Paint Gloss Black

1000grit(wet), 2000(wet)

Paint Gloss Clear

2000(wet)

Paint Gloss Clear

2000 (wet)

Polish with buffer and Light cut compound

Polish with speed cut

Polish with M81

Wax

That is the plan we will see how I stick to it...lol

Looks pretty good. There is not much room in those trucks behind the seat at all, seeing your 08 makes me feel better about the room I have in my 05 lol. How far are the subs away from the seat bottom? Do they hit the back of the seat or anything?

1/2" was a bad idea dude... 3/4 on sub boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Should be fine for a lower powered setup. If anything some internal bracing for the front panel and it would be all set. The front panel has some pretty good freespan to it but with some bracing it shouldn't flex much.

actually what you see is not really what the box is... the actual box is in a U shape... the biggest span in about 11.5" x 16", it doesnt seem to flex at all... the front is just to "hide" the back wall and make it look factory.

here is a quick draw up of what the actual box is...

im sorry. but unless its under like 200wrms, i wouldnt go with 1/2". even then, id probably go 3/4" because its holding a sub. you want the walls to be as stiff as possible, or youre not going to get the best sound out of it...

$0.02

1/2" will work fine for that small of a setup, dont listen to this guy.
