Bought a home theater sub from best buy. Hate it. Can I return it for that reason???

I needed a good sub that wouldnt be too big for my bedroom for mainly movies and such

finally decided to build my own and went with a TC 2000 12 in a sonotube, it fits awesome in the corner behind my TV, ~3.5cuft @19hhz

powering it with a bash500w plate amp now, love every minute of it

Im about to redo the box into something smaller and better looking for a new apartment

bought the sub when they quit doing TC and were switching to AP, i originally had a EP2500 on it but just too much power for what i needed so i sold it and got the plate amp

probably everything all together would be ~500-600

Sub was ~250

Amp was like ~180

Tube-$40

Port-$15

Random wood and piant-20-30$

but you could get by with alot cheaper subs, i just always wanted a TC sub for HT

in HT is there a pro and con with sealed and ported?
Sealed offers a much more balanced response, I enjoy it for all around listening. True, ported will provide an emphasized low end, if tuned low. I've used both, large ported tuned low, and sealed... and I prefer the sealed much more in my application. The extension is great.

Man, dayton stuff sure has gone up in price. I remember just a couple years ago when the DVC 15's were under $100, 15" Titanics were ~$150, and when the References first came out you could get a 10 for $99 and a 12 for $109.

Stupid question. But is there a difference between a sonotube and. Standard box? If so what is it. And are they something u make ( seems kinda tough to do ) or buy?

This. I prefer sealed over tuned as well. Actually I prefer IB, but same thing. If IB can't be done then sealed ftw.

Not really. Same principles, people just like the look and footprint of sonosubs. They aren't hard to build or hard to obtain in the least bit.
