Bought a home theater sub from best buy. Hate it. Can I return it for that reason???

Isn't that havoc a car audio sub? What specs do you have to look at to what makes a ht and ca sub differ

Many car audio subs can work, just not those meant for SPL in a car environment )imo). A low fs and versatile qts along with fair xmax are important to me for home.

For $400 you can get A LOT.. go to a real home audio shop..

Not a lot of pre-built subs are in the $400 range.

Even five years ago when I bought my Rava for $400, it was on the low end of the scale.

And I'm assuming there would be a great improvement in quality as well buy diy. Basically I could get a hellof alot better of a sub and amp for 400 opposed yo if I paid 400 for a sub at bb

take it back because you got ripped off, not because it doesnt sound good. you are obviously expecting too much out of the sub

i have one under my end table and for what it is it really hits hard and sounds great

i am sure you got ripped off on all your speakers, but newegg sells that sub for $150 shipped and when i bought it they were selling it for $100 shipped

if your budget is around $400

get one of these 18" subs for $175

Everything I bought in my first post cost me 1200 including wires and the sub RCA. I love the pioneer receiver decodes Dolby tru HD and dts master audio. Has hookups for mu I phone and matches my speakers perfectly. Any higher end speakers that need more power would need a better power supply. But this works excellent for my 5.1. I bought all seperates by Polk and just pieced it together. Love it all actually. Even the sub sounds better now that I threw it behind my tv. Less port noise and a good rolloff on the back wall.
As for adding a new sub to a complete setup. I wouldn't do it. Not really meant for that I'm assumng

get a mach 5 mj18 and either a 500w plate amp or a 1000w and call it a day, shit will fall off your walls

No there run off the receiver. And the receiver seems to actually put out more powerthan the spekers can handle at times. But they never distort or have a bad sound. It's hard to explain. Basically I got the cheapest receiver that can decode HD audio(new) and a set of speakers that match it well

just as in vat audio u want to match your amp and speakers correctly. (especialy if your on a budget). If I got a $2000 receiver it would be overkillfor my speakers and visa versa. Bottom line Tho. I love the setup gets very loud and very clear.

And yes I'm being a ****** about building my sub lol. I have no computer at the moment. So until I get it back I'm posting and viewing links that everyone posts on a iPhone. Which at times is a lil slow with no 3g or wifi.

Alotof ppl are posting links to 15sand 18s. I don't have the room for one of those which is why i would rather go with a very good 12"driver and a god plate amp instead of just a mediocre 15 and amp

I think the IXL 15 is a much better choice for home theater. MJ18 could get it done, but the price difference is minmal on moving to a 15 IXL which will ultimately push more air and be better for the LFE in movies.
