The MTX Blue Thunder 8" was a little too overpowered by my Alphasonik GP-2050 bridged, so I started looking for a decent sub. My brother had an extra 12" box, so I started looking for one. I almost bought an RE12, but the Alphasonik can only go down to 4 ohms, so I would have to run it at 8 ohms. Then I ran across this Planet Audio ZR12. The guy pulled the specs out of his rear in the auction, the sub is really a single 4 ohm coil good for about 180 watts RMS from the Planet Audio datasheet. I will be slightly under powering it, but It's worth it for the price difference and the better match ohm wise. I figured if their old stuff was good, this sub had to be somewhat decent. The 91dB efficiency rating will also be great for getting as much SPL out of around 125 watts as I can.
