lol. I've been running around a little lately trying to find a good shop to install for me and just about fell on my *** today hearing some crap outa this one shop today. I laid out the system I wanted them to install (this place had Alpine as their main line), including either a set of Z6's or K2P's and they came around telling me R-types would be so much better for me since some of my musical taste features distortion. (Ministry, NIN, etc.) ROFL. Doesn't matter that some of NIN's tracks are beautifully clean and I might want to hear that, or that other music I listen to is quite clean, nope, speakers that are built to reproduce clean music won't be able to do that after a dose of Ministry according to these guys. They of course went on to tell me that Eclipse and Pioneer Premier don't compare to Alpine, JL Amps are not nearly as good as the V12 series, and 10W7 and 10W6V2 are no better than R-series subs, just pricier!and going from inifinity to boston Z's is QUITE the step. night and day difference, you'll never look at infinity anything the same again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Bear in mind, I'm not knocking Alpine at all, but if you look at the quality of crap they were trying to sell compared to the quality of crap I want to bring in to them the whole conversation was a joke. Oh, and get this. Their "sincere" suggestion was to run that tiny, 1-din Alpine center channel with their setup to help preserve a good soundstage. I'm sorry but in a 5.1 system sure, get a center channel, but I am putting a stereo system in a 2-seater, no rears, and I know if you set it up right, power it right, and eq it right the image will be just fine. [/rant] **** it's hard to find a good shop to just install!
edit to add: ...and I'm not so much knocking the type-r's here either, just I don't think they are even anywhere near the Infinity Kappa Perfects, yet since these guys sold 'em they just rock. :/
