bose question

You should see the custom shops around here. Most of them won't even touch a factory Bose system and the ones that do will charge you an arm and a leg. As for the shops who don't want to touch the factory Bose system, they push HARD to start over from scratch with a new HU, amp(s), and speakers!

My MECP certified friend is the only installer who said that adding a system to the Bose setup is a piece of cake in the 2007 350z. I am sure I will be helping him with that install when my other friend breaks down and orders his stuff.

When you get the new car, will you be keeping most, if not all of your old system? If so, you would probably be better off just transplanting your equipment over and removing the Bose setup.

Adding on to a Bose setup while retaining bits and pieces of it is going to be a royal pain in the ***. If you are up for the challenge, I say go for it. Just don't be surprised if you are unimpressed with just adding on to the existing Bose setup. The Bose setup may sound nice, and you could get lucky just by adding a couple of speakers up front and a sub in the back. Odds are Murphy will work against you because your factory Bose setup is equalized one way and will probably cancel out some of your hard earned efforts to make improvements.

alright. yea i was hoping to add my whole other system and also use the bose speakers (not sub) to add to my old system. Its my dads car, and im puttin a HU in there soon, heres what ill do. Ill have the old bose system set up to the new hu, and ill just lay my polk/pioneer speakers near the doors and plug it up, but not have it installed and hear it. That way i can pretty much see how it sounds but not cut anything yet.

the only question is, how do i mix rca's? ie the back of the HU has inputs for front, rear, sub, and when i test out both systems ill have two rca's for front and two rca's for back, how do i do that?

It's certainly not impossible. If you have experience with such systems, it isn't too bad, but the factory wiring is such a mess and so poorly labeled that unless you know what you're doing, you're going to get very frustrated and quit with your car half torn apart.

Having two more speakers about a yard and a half behind you is hardly going to be a big volume increase. Not to mention, the Bose speakers and the ones you plan on installing probably have very little in common, making them a poor match.

I personally wouldn't go beyond adding a sub and an amp to a stock Bose system.

If your changing out the headunit all the bose equipment will most likely have to go and you will have to do an amp bypass.

Most acura bose systems will not integrate by just wiring up a harness.

alright. well since it was said that adding more speakers wont equal louder volume, whats a way to do that?
New speakers and an amp to run them.... If you dont want to add new speakers than dont even put in a new HU. The bose stuff is engineered and crossed over/tuned to work as a whole and if you remove the stock stereo and replace it than I think it will sound worse, which is hard to do for bose. IMO
