To pannel a box into the trunk or not?

Do you finish the trunk or just make it sound good?

  • Yes, I fill in all the spaces and finish like a shop show car.

  • No, I'm all about the box & sound, who cares what it looks like, I leave it MDF.

  • I'd like it to look good, but I don't mind/ need it removeable, so I just carpet the plain box.

I've built quite a few trunk builds now and I'm just working on an under seat build for my truck. Not saying I'm any good but I've always added fill in pannels, hidden compartments, modeling foam curves ect to my installs before carpeting.

I was just wondering if most people do this or not?

I have seen a lot of quality kit with perfectly (acoustically that is) designed boxes just slung in the trunk since I have been here in Chicago.

Is it just that there's some Cheap ***** here in IL, or is it more common for poeple to get the design right and make no compromises for asthetics?

Maybe people want removeable, but even then a 1/4" thick front plate that goes over the box and is fitted to the open trunk spaces wouldn't be so hard?

If it's in some kinda pimp ride that has leather and wood already... that would be cool!

Check out this Low my friend threw together back in the UK...

Fake woodie to the max!

The install was actually an MDF box in the boot, about 1 cu ft but the box and the amp sat inside an old leather suitcaseall screwed down to the false floor!
