Thats the first one. No in-progress pics. I'm going to build another exactly like it, though. It's .45 cubic feet, and it will be tuned to 32hz with a 2" PVC port. It will house Oz Vector tweeters and xovers, and either an Oz vector mid or AA Poly mid.

More pics as I make the other one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No no no no, raise that tuning by at least double. For regular speakers, tuning in the subbass region is useless as they aren't meant to reproduce those frequencies anyway. Boost what your sub doesn't have to cover, which is the midbass region, or anywhere from 50-75hz depending on the setup.

Well, I've been running the AA polys at 35hz, and they sound great. The thing is that I won't be able to put a HPF on them, so I'd like to keep the tuning low. I know it's not ideal, but I'm not trying for exceptional SQ. Just something alright for movies and music.

So? It doesn't matter. You aren't seeing any benefits by tuning that low, as they aren't reproducing those frequencies with any useful output anyway.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave mariiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia......

Sorry, was playing Hitman: BM when the internet popped up for some reason.

It's doable given the right driver. Even $20 Dayton 7-inchers will tune down to the low 30's and play that low too, but the enclosure will be BIG.

It all depends on your driver's specs. What you should do it model a reflex alignment in a program such as WinISD or Unibox and go from there instead of guessing and checking.

Also, the stock crossover may not be optimal especially if you mix and match drivers.

Well, I pretty much just need a crossover no matter what. I'm going to use the Oz xover because it's handy. Again, not looking for amazing SQ, just something that will sound fine in the apartment.

I've played the AAs down into the 30s and they don't mind.

:nono:We're talking about bookshelf speakers. My MTMs using the dayton 7" RS could play late night tip to shake shit in my bathroom, but even they were tuned in the low 50s.

edit: I meant to say bookshelf, not regular speakers in original post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

What you could do to save some money is either get pre-made x-overs, or if you wanna go that route, just notch the tweeter.

not to thread jack, but i'm making some full size speakers for my house. what are the differences when building home speaker enclosures as opposed to car audio enclosures? hey'll be ran directly off the receiver which means the subs won't be low passed.
