For that kind of design, yes...you need a full range driver.

Those are only rated for 12wpc.

Yes, I saw that rating, and realized that is pretty low.... If I used a 4" midrange, what all would I have to change?

Havent been on for a while because i use alot of pro audio processing on my mic and i had to lone it to my uncles radio station after lightning, wont have it for 2 weeks more or so.

They simply don't get efficient enough. There are transmission line full range projects out there that will handle some power. Jordans come to mind...but those can be pricey. Eh, I think I'm just gonna break down and buy the theater in a box... I have a question though, can you typically replace the subwoofers on those, or is it usually the speaker type terminals that hook them up compared to RCA outs?

With HTIB's, all bets are off. Think of them as the stock car systems of home audio...usually very difficult to integrate with any other equipment, really designed to be standalone.

The only problem I am running into is lack of tools to work with... I really don't have the tools readily available around me. Buying a table saw would be uneconomical, mainly because I will have zero space to put it when I go to college in a month or so...

I'm really intersted in doing my own project, however, due to a few factors, it makes it very difficult..

What about using Parts Express cabinets...all you'd need to do is finish them.

Too much $$, I'm just gonna sell the atlas, instead of getting it reconed... I can live without a dorm system for a while I guess...
