Boat System: Bass cutting out at high volumes

I have a pontoon boat.

It has:

(2) Interstate 6v batteries

Factory 70 amp alternator

4 gauge power and ground all around

(1) Soundstream Ref4.920 for mids/highs

(1) Soundstream DTR1.1700d for subs

(8) Fosgate m262's

(1) Fosgate 10 Farad Cap just installed

(1) Cerwin Vega Vmax 3104 10" sub

(1) Fosgate P3 Dual 4 ohm 10" sub

the subs are both 4 ohm and and wired to 1 ohm now. Before the cap and fosgate 10 install

it was running 2 ohms. The ss dtr pushes 1100watts at 2ohm and 1700watts at 1ohm

Up until we installed the 10 farad cap/the fosgate 10" the bass didn't start cutting out until the batteries started getting low(close to an hour of high volume).

The bass cuts out pretty bad since the ss dtr is at 1ohm now.. even though we have the fosgate

cap in. The voltage meter is even reading about 14 volts and it still cuts out.

Any input as to why its cutting out now would be great.

btw: we haven't changed the alternator yet because its a pain in the *** to get to.

I did call mercruiser and get a serial number and call DB Electrical for a higher amp

alternator. The highest amp direct bolt on alternator they have is 140amp

That alt alone can only do 840 watts which has to be spread by powering the system and anything electrical and charging those 6v batteries which im not 100% sure the performace of a 6v battery on a 12+ volt system.

Your pretty much ******* the crap out of that alt..

Your amp alone if its even doing 1200 watts is trying to pull to much current.

The 140 amp alt will perfectly do for your current setup.
