blueprint subs?

hi ho.......

anyway, i'll throw my subjective opinion in this mix as i currently have a rl-p 12 in 1.25ft^3 sealed being pushed by a hifonics nemsis nx750 in my wife's 2004 grand prix.

1) sq is equal to if not better then most subs i have heard. the jl's w6, w7 being two subs that come to mind being in the same ballpark.

2) the comparision was indeed between the rl-p and eclipse alum because of cone material, with the rl-p, imo, being as good as if not better then the alum for sq. the ti's **** imo for sq, i have yet to hear any in any install sound good. i actually like the eclipse alum more then the ti.

3)they(rl-p) do indeed get loud and they get low. they handle transitions exceptionally well, regardless of music played, it'll keep up.

4)the rl-p has been compared to the brahma quite a bit, though i think the brahma might handle a touch more power(at least rated), so spl will/ should fall in the brahma's favor.

5)the rl-i series is indeed an exact copy of the tc2+ driver. the rl-p's are based on the tc9's.

6) the rl-p's and rl-i's are underrated. mike (the owner of soundsplinter) is currently feeding his pair of 10" rl-i's 3000wrms. of course i doubt he's wangin full tilt nonstop...lol. the rl-p's are rated for 500wrms and mine is more then happy with 750 wrms....it's all in set-up and using them properly.

7) soundsplinter's customer courtesy is second to none. mike will answer any and all emails quickly and honestly. even if it means not recommending his product.

8) the rl-p i own is far and away the best sql woofer i have owned, which includes..memphis hpo's, rf hx2's, cerwin vega vegad4's, treo ss (these were really nice!) jlw0, mtx 6000's,and a slew of others. but overall sq goes to the rl-p fairly easily, not withstanding it's the only one i've ran sealed.

9) give mike@soundsplinter.com a shout. then u'll understand why i'm soundsplinters biggest fan!!

if anyone has any questions, give me a shout...or check out soundsplinter's official forum

my install can be seen here as well...

the grand prix's install

check out the site and forum.....don't forget i'm almost always around.

soundsplinter should always be on ur list when shopping for new subs...they are way worth it!!!

Can you elaborate a little on this point? Do you recall the types of enclosures these subs were in?

Have you heard the Brahma, or were these comparisons drawn by other owners? Also, were the two compared just in terms of output, or in sound quality as well?

I can vouch for this point. I e-mailed Mike earlier this afternoon (about a page single-spaced… I’m long-winded //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif), and he responded with a reply of equal length in about three hours! On Halloween Sunday!

Honestly, cone material for subwoofers is about the LEAST important thing to worry about. As long as its properly designed, it really won't make much of a difference at the freqeucneis subwoofers play.
The new Matrix Elite drivers actually look more like something from ID than TC Sounds. They only have 2" diameter voice coils, so they won't handle nearly as much power as the Soundsplinter or the D2.
Good to know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And I agree that the ME looks a bit like something ID would release, but whenever comparisons are made between the two, several rabid ID fans seem to always appear, and anger ensues. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I’m curious who built them, though.

That doesn't surprise me, but they do really look like ID built drivers to me:

TC and ID are about the only big build houses that do leads woven along the spider, and that motor definitely doesn't look like a TC job. Nor does the surround.

i've heard the w6's (10's) in a ported enclosure with a rated 1000wrms..they were loud as hell. they also hit the notes quite nicely at upper freq's. at the low low's they were kindy muddy. but this could have been box tuning.

the w7's i've heard sealed and ported. both were really nice, though the sealed one didn't exactly impress me with spl, the sq was sweet!

i think the rl-p more then holds it own against the w6, and in the right application, can run with the w7. especially at lower power levels (around 750 wrms per sub or less), maybe not spl..but in the subjective world of sq...yeah.

Have you heard the Brahma, or were these comparisons drawn by other owners? Also, were the two compared just in terms of output, or in sound quality as well?
i've never gotten to hear a brahma. they were indeed comparisons by other people. mostly done on paper, i presume, as not to many have heard the soundsplinter. they were compared on both aspects, spl and sq. drawing from what i have read about the brahma and what i've heard my rl-p do, the sq would be a toss-up with the better install winning. spl would be close, but i believe the braham has a higher power handling rating/maybe capability, so i give it the nod there. but again, i've yet to hear them side by side.

Yay. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

At this point, I’ve pretty much narrowed my choices down to the Oz Matrix Elite and the SS RL-p. I’ve heard awesome things about the TC2+, and all its benefits have supposedly been transferred to the TC9 (minus the distortion, in which the TC2+ takes the lead by a very slight margin), according to Mike, with several upgrades granting the TC9 the potential for greater volume levels. I’ll have to sleep on it for a few days before making a decision. (Of course, the ME hasn’t been in stock for weeks, while the RL-p currently is, so that may affect my choice.)

Yep. In fact, he did it twice tonight. I sent him a follow-up about the same length as before, and he replied within 30 minutes. He’s very attentive. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sound splinter is starting to sound super apealing.
holds its own with a w7? that quite impressive
just remember, that's my opinion. in a sealed enviroment, the rl-p, to my ears, sounds just as good, handles the transitions from note to note quickly and seamlessly. it handles everything from kickdrums to boomy bass notes..

not taking anything away from the dub7, which i believe to be the top of the subwoofer mountain in technology. sure it's overpriced, but it's not the only sub out there that costs more then it's worth...

but yeah, i believe the rl-p is quite impressive for it's price. u get a whole lotta sub for not a whole lotta money..at least IMHO
