The fact that you're barely old enough to drive, and clearly haven't made enough money as an installer to afford anything, means maybe you should be quiet.

Hmm well being 18 and paying for college money isn't abundant. and I dont make money installing. just cause youve been doing it for years dosent mean your doing it right.

Sometimes I wonder how people with 1,300 posts can be so dumb still....

It's pretty common sense that using a box that's too big can and will damage the sub. Think about it...there' not enough dampening provided by the box to prevent the woofer from overexcursion, etc.

And how are you setting your gains? The way you speak of "turning the gain all the way up to 1000" makes me think that you think that the gain knob is like a power level...if it's at max, it'll be putting out 1000 and if it's at min it will be putting out 0 watts. I sure hope you set it the somwhat correct way of using a DMM to get your "550-600".

No, i used one of the electric things. It's putting out 41.2 volts. About 560 RMS. Not over-doing it.

Will that box be ok for the 13W7? It should arrive here by end of the week, or next week.

Electric things, that's a DMM.

As for the box, I don't use w7's but I would guess that that box would be fine, maybe even a little small (too lazy to check what JL recommends, just go look). I like 2.5 cube boxes for my 12's.

he's been told b4 the box was to big.

& he's gotten help in this thread. he's needs to check the coils to make sure its not blown.

JL is cheaply built i always heard bad things about JL and i wanted to prove people wrong so i traded my sub for a JL13W7 and 300 sunday night, guess what it popped before i even got it tuned. i cut it apart and what a cheap *** sub.
