blown sub?

I have a JL 10W7 on a JL 1000/1. I turned down the gain on the amp and its pushing about 550-600 RMS. Last night and this morning, when I turned it up to bump, I can hear the cone. The cone starts making a cracking noise when it hits a certain high level of bass. I put my ear in the port and its deff. coming from the inside, which i believe is the cone... am i PHUCKED.

It still bumps, but I can hear it. The 10W7 is a single 3 ohm VC

i just shook box, nothing in it. I know its not anything in box, I can tell it in the coil noise. It still hits lows well, but anyhthing too high you can hear coil thump. When I play "we do it for fun part 2" by joker it thumps fine, but when it gets to the high thump every half second then you hear it.

Sounds like you have an issue. Those subs are pricy to get reconed. Contrary to popular belief, it can be done. Saw a tutorial the other day, but it looked like a pain in the ***.

it doesnt work perfectly. it bumps... but you can hear like some kind of rattle when a high note comes in or someone talks with no bass. i think a coil is bad or something.

Its a JL, duh. Haha.. Anyways, it sounds like it could possibly be the box, but it also sounds as if the speaker has some damage to it somewhere, maybe something is loose, like the spider i dont know im just guessing. Is the box too big? Bottoming it out or something?
