explain how a bad ground is gonna pop a fuse on the power wire, without the ground cable actually disconnecting and physically touching said power cable.

check the power and ground wires at the amp, make sure they are not shorting at the terminals

The entire car is a ground. If a ground wire were to short to it what would happen? NOTHING! They have the same potential.
