BitDefender.....Need help.

Ok...for some time now my laptop has been slower than usual. So a friend of mine told me that heard about this software "BitDefender" that cleans up your PC/Laptop and also protects you from viruses. I decided it to try it and installed a trial version. Everything was fine till i restarted my laptop.

So now i cannot connect to the internet. Everything freezes. Everything is slower 20 times than ususal.

Tried to uninstall it but it froze on me permanently.

Tried to uninstall it from Control panel, but when i got to ADD/Remove programs--the whole lis is Empty.

Not sure what i can do at this moment.

Any input will be appreciated.

When you installed Bitdefender, did you uninstall the old anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall software first ?

If you want to remove it, boot into Safe Mode (restart your computer, keep hitting F8 until you get a list in test, select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. From there, you can either do a system restore (a message box will pop-up asking you if you want to perform a system restore) or you should be able to remove Bitdefender via add/remove programs.

BTW, the latest version of Bitdefender sucks ...

Oh yeah and to avoid the "How in the hell were you able to start this thread if you don't have an internet connection" confusion - I'm using different desktop now. Fyi

It asked me about Firewall: if i wanted it to replace my existing one but im positive that i said NO

That could be your problem ... If you're using 2 firewalls and they're conflicting w/ each other, it can wreak havoc on your computer ...

oh man. But anyway should i proceed with your safe mode suggestion?

did not want to admit it but at this point i have to.

Update: I had to report it to IT department since i could not do any work nor check the internal emails.

Left for lunch, came back - laptop is gone. IT scheduled formatting and they will TRY to back up my data.
