Bit O' Help

Just to introduce myself, if you know of Sampson round here, i'm one of the guys who's been helpin him work on his shit. Otherwise, I'm kind of new to doing this stuff solo. Helped my cousins for a few years with their systems, but never got deep into it all.

Alright, to the help. I have an 81 Cutlass, and have so far replaced the 3.5s (120w Legacy) in the front. Yeah I know, nothin special, but not really into cutting the car up to fit bigger speakers or anything at the moment.

The dilema I'm having is the fact the rear speakers are mounted under, what I'm calling a head rest, in the back. I've sadly now found they are 4x10s, and stock. They sound decent, but of course I want to put something better in.

Where I need the help is, if anyone knows of any flat 3-way 6x9s or even 4x10s. HIGHLY doubting there is any of these, and no doubt it'd kill the sound mounting them under, but at the moment as I said, i'm not too keen into cutting up the car yet. If it really comes to it, I will cut holes in the plastic and just drop em in and put covers on em, cause I love the look of my car. I recently found out the paint job and interior were custom ordered, and i've never seen a car that looks like mine (ask sampson). So any ideas are highly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

You could get the componet 6x9s...install the tweets in the rear pillars maybe. I dont really understand what you mean by flat, low profile maybe?
Yeah, sorry, couldn't think of the word.

Getting the components. Sounds like a way to go about it.

On the front I just took the plastic covers that went over the speakers and cut a hole in them for the tweeters. Then covered em in speaker cover, and they just look like big ol speakers now.

I'll try to snap a few pics of what i'm workin with in the back to maybe give a better idea of what is up.

i have the same car 81 cutlass supremme brougham---memphis makes a sweet set of 3.5" to go in the dash ---flush. right now i have nothing at all in the rear dash cus it makes the bass sound sooo much better with no speakers back there. but i did have a set of audiobahn 4 X 10's back there which i blew because i didn't run baffles on them and my bass pushed the cones too far. anyway they gave me a brand new set for free which i mounted for 1 day then decided to take em out cuz of the bass issue--so if your looking for a set that fits i have em--used for 1 day. would take $100 shipped. have pics if needed.

Alright, i'll have to get back to you on that. I'm close to broke right now, but with X-Mas coming up, might have some cash. But thanks for all the info man, good stuff to know.
