I am *extremely* happy with this box, its exactly what I was going for in every aspect.

This will happen with EVERY well glued joint.

well, the wood will pull apart @ the surface with normal glue/screws... with tongue/groove you have to actually break the panel itself, not just the surface of the wood.

oh and i personally dont like the carpet. it shows too much of an edge.

There are no gaps... the only place there could possibly be a "gap" is if the male piece doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the female piece...

Its impossble to have an air leak with this design.

carpet still has too much of an edge for my taste.

The box weighs a wopping 45lbs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif . This is a 5.25 cube box!!! Birch is just that light, and that strong... superb material!
