Birch Box Build for 2 SX 12's

cars are made so you dont get water in them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifjust wondering because im doing an install with some oak ply soon
True, but hes gotten so much crap on this forum, carstereos (SIN), CAF, and im sure a few more ive missed. Seems like hes trying to eliminate most reasons any1 would complain about.

The box being able to resist water one of those complaints that was hammered on CS, (not to forget about 10 pages was devoted how to put a screw into wood, lol) even though chances of your box getting wet is very slim, unless you just have a big leak somewere, in a flood or end up using it as a boat anchor. I just dont see a box getting wet.

Well I will say as well, for the first time that I have seen you promoting your boxes on here, that one might be worth the price. I just for some reason you charging someone a months pay for that though. Looks good though.
months pay at mcdonalds workin a day a week? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why not just do a rabbet joint instead of the tounge and groove, it appears to me you've gone past the point of dimishing returns with your box construction there. Plus a rabbet is a hell of alot easier to do rather than tounge and groove jointing.

rabbet is someting i may try. Nails would still be required with a rabbet to hold while assembly.

At this point, tongue and groove is time consuming, but it will go faster as time goes on, and as I setup my other saw specifically for it - right now I Just dont have the space.

I have more confidence in the tongue/grove.. as the wood pretty much holds itself together, giving 0 chance the joint will work itself apart over time.

If you have enough clamps you won't need nails during assembly, which considering your business I imagine there are a ton of clamps laying around. Yes, tounge and groove is more time consuming, it always will be even if you have your saws setup for it. The reason I'm saying use a rabbet joint is that you only have to make one pass with a dado head in order to make the joint.

We know that a glue joint is stronger than the wood it is bonding, that is a fact. So to me a properly glued won't work loose. If it is pushed to the point of breaking I can see where a tounge and groove joint setup would be beneficial due to the structure of the joint and the inherit strength of it by itself.

Sure the tounge and groove would be nice to do int all your boxes, but that setup (IMHO) make your boxes price sky high due to the time/labor/extra equipment needed to make the boxes in a high production environment.

Warning, opinion ranting here...

The duty life of sub boxes I can see to around 5 years max... Sure, alot of people have boxes older than that, no problem. But most people who are buying this stuff from what I can tell are people who are newer in the "addiction" and want to just plain get Loud. As they get more experience, they will construct their own, try different designs. The TCAB boxes will get put aside and sit in a corner collecting dust.

So we all know that:

Time=Money

Less Time spent on construction = More money in your pockets.
