I'm going to buy a torch to solder my 1/0 ring terminals...
what kind are you using? what would you recommend?

I used a basic propane torch you can get at any hardware store. You could also get a cylinder of MAPP gas if you really wanted to get that shit hot.

It's not all that difficult I guess. No different than doing any other kind of car work. You're going to get dirty and it's going to take some time, but anyone can do it.

Do you actually use solder when you use a torch? Or do you melt the copper itself? I am not familiar with anything except small parts soldering.

You melt the copper into the wire ring thing, no solder is need. Best connection is the copper to the ring (Sorry, forget the name)

i had to use 4 feet of rachet extensions to get to my alternator it sucked. now i gotta do a big 3 on a crv. IT looks to be in the same place as yours. Whats the best way to get at it
